LaVenture parents,
As you can see when you drive by the school, our construction project is under way! It’s an exciting time for us, and while the end result will be some new classroom space, there will be some temporary growing pains.
One of the biggest changes that you will feel will be during student drop-off in the morning and afternoon pickup. Because construction work is happening on the south side of the building, we cannot use that area for bus pickup and drop-off. As a result, all regular buses will drop their students off in front of the school on LaVenture Road in the mornings and pick them up there in the afternoons. All of the northbound parking on LaVenture will be reserved for buses from 6:45-7:30 AM, and again in the afternoons from 1:30-2:15 (11:30-12:15 on Wednesdays).
We will do what we can to minimize the impact this has on parent pick-up and drop-off, but there will be some. There are a few things you can do, though, that together will make a big difference:
1) If you can, wait until 2:10 to pick up your child. Although the north parking lot is typically very crowded from 1:30-2:00, it empties out very quickly, and by 2:10 it is much easier to get in and out.
2) Wait for your child on the southbound side of LaVenture Rd. There is some street parking there, and there is a crossing guard on duty at the main campus entrance.
3) Consider carpooling with friends and neighbors.
4) When possible, have your child ride the bus. Not only does that cut down on car traffic but it also helps the school district – as bus ridership increases, so does the state’s reimbursement to the District for transportation costs.

Como pueden ver cuando manejan por nuestra escuela, ¡el proyecto de construcción ya está en marcha! Es un momento emocionante para nosotros, y aunque el resultado final será un nuevo espacio para más salones, habrá algunos dolores de crecimiento temporales.
Uno de los cambios más grandes que sentirá será durante la entrega de los estudiantes por la mañana y al recogerlos en la tarde. Debido a que se están realizando trabajos de construcción en el lado sur del edificio, no podemos usar esa área para recoger y dejar con los autobuses. Como resultado, todos los autobuses regulares dejarán a sus estudiantes frente a la escuela en la calle LaVenture Road por las mañanas y los recogerán allí por las tardes. Todo el estacionamiento hacia el norte en la calle LaVenture estará reservado para los autobuses de 6:45 a 7:30 a. m., y nuevamente por las tardes de 1:30 a 2:15 (11:30 a 12:15 los miércoles).

- Cuando sea posible, deje que su hijo viaje en el autobús. Eso no solo reduce el tráfico de automóviles, sino que también ayuda al distrito escolar: a medida que aumenta el número de pasajeros en autobús, también lo hace el reembolso del estado al Distrito por los costos de transporte.
