LaVenture Family -- it's hard to believe a month of school has already passed, but it has! We are off to a fantastic start! Our new 6th grade students (all 300 of them!) are already fitting right in, and our returning 7th and 8th graders are providing the leadership and warm welcome we hope they would. Exciting things are happening in classrooms, fall sports are well under way, it's a great time to be a LaVenture Falcon!

We welcome several new (or almost new) faces this fall: Megan Mauro, our new assistant principal, joins 13 new teaching staff: Charlie Haney (Math 7), Amanda Blue (Math 8), Tony Wallace (math 6), Ariana Johnson Patriz (Science 7 & Math 8), Chelsea Billings LeGault (ELA 6), Alex Burkhart (ELA 8 + Leadership), Kirsten Jensen (ELA coach), Kathryn Hogan (ELA8 + ELL), Caroline Masters (ELA 6 & SS 6), Gillian Sinclair (ELA 7), Dawn Murphy (Life Skills), Robert Pitzer (music), and Lauren Thomas (Art).

If you were able to be at student-led conferences, it was great to see you! If not, please do not hesitate to call or email or drop by. We are available to you any time you have a need, a question, or concern, and we want to partner with you to help your child be successful  – we are happy to communicate with you at any time!

If your student would benefit from extra academic help after school, the 21st Century program, run by the Mount Vernon Boys and Girls Club, has already begun. The program meets Monday thru Thursday every week until 4:30. Dinner (free!) is also served to anyone in the after-school program, and then a bus is provided to take students home at 5:00. The LaVenture Club is a great program that provides academic support, hands-on activities, and transportation home. I encourage you and your son or daughter to check it out!
